Description
Twin Arnica (Arnica sororia) is a low-growing, rhizomatous perennial native to Alberta’s dry grasslands and open woodlands. It features bright yellow, daisy-like blooms that begin in late May and continue into early summer, rising above glossy, aromatic foliage. Though it spreads slowly by rhizomes, it forms stable colonies over time, making it ideal for naturalizing in sunny, well-drained sites. This species supports native pollinators, particularly solitary bees, that rely on early-season blooms. A beautiful and resilient choice for bringing early colour and ecological value to your landscape.
Note this species can be used in lieu of Shining-leaved Arnica (Arnica fulgens). The two species are nearly identical, with subtle taxonomic differences.
